Add a Direct Booking Link to Google Maps, Paid Search, Your Website or Social

Copy your ready-made booking links from Settings → Appointments → Booking Links and add them to Google Business Profile, Google Ads, your website and social profiles.

A quick guide to letting pet owners book appointments with you directly from Google, your website, and your social profiles.

What this does

Otto gives you a personal booking link that opens your Direct Booking widget the moment someone clicks it. Add it to your Google Business Profile, your website, and your social pages, and pet owners can request an appointment in a few taps — no phone call, no waiting for someone to pick up.

When an owner searches for your clinic on Google, a Book Now button can appear right alongside your hours and phone number. One click takes them straight to your booking widget.

Your booking links

Otto provides booking links built specifically for your clinic. Some places need a tagged version of the link and some do not. The endings (the utm_... part) let your reports track where each appointment request came from, so please copy each link exactly as shown and don't trim or shorten any part of it.

The easiest way to get them is in Otto Flow: go to Settings → Appointments and click Booking Links. Every link there is already built from your clinic's website address, so you can copy it as is. If you'd rather build a link yourself, replace your-clinic-domain.com in the examples below with your clinic's website address.

Direct booking or a booking request

These links can open one of two things, depending on how your clinic takes appointments:

  • Direct Booking — owners pick a real, open time slot and book it instantly. This is what the links below use (...SelectRequestType=DirectBooking).
  • Appointment request — owners send a request and your team confirms the time. To use this instead, just swap DirectBooking for RequestAppointment, keeping everything else the same:
https://your-clinic-domain.com/?ottoWidgetSelectRequestType=RequestAppointment&utm_source=google&utm_medium=book_now

Use whichever matches how your clinic works. The links in Booking Links already pick the right one: if Direct Booking isn't turned on for your clinic yet, they open an appointment request instead. If you're not sure which one you have, your Otto contact can confirm.

Where to add it

Google Business Profile ("Book Now" button)

This is the highest-impact spot — it puts a booking button directly in your Google search and Maps listing.

Use this link:

https://your-clinic-domain.com/?ottoWidgetSelectRequestType=DirectBooking&utm_source=google&utm_medium=book_now
  1. Sign in to your Google Business Profile.
  1. Open Edit profile → Bookings (or Add a booking link).
  1. Paste the link above.
  1. Save. The Book Now button typically appears on your listing within a short review period.

Google Ads / paid search

If you (or your marketing agency) run Google Ads, point the ad's final URL at this link. That keeps paid bookings credited to paid search instead of blending in with your organic Google traffic:

https://your-clinic-domain.com/?ottoWidgetSelectRequestType=DirectBooking&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=your_campaign_name

Replace your_campaign_name with a short name for the campaign — spring_wellness, new_client_offer, and so on. In Booking Links, the part to replace is highlighted. Use the same name everywhere that campaign runs so it groups into a single row in your reports.

One thing to pass along to whoever manages the ads: if the account uses a tracking template or a final URL suffix, ask them to keep the utm_ parameters in the final URL.

If they can't, it still works. Google Ads adds its own click ID automatically, and your report reads that as well, so these bookings are credited to paid search even when the tags get stripped.

Your clinic website

Add a Book an Appointment button or link to your homepage, contact page, and anywhere else owners look to get in touch. Point it at this link:

https://your-clinic-domain.com/?ottoWidgetSelectRequestType=DirectBooking

This one needs no tags on the end. Someone clicking a button on your own website already counts as coming to you directly, and your report shows those bookings as Direct.

Social profiles

Facebook and Instagram both let you add a button or a link in your bio.

For a link in your profile or bio, use the plain link with no tags on the end:

https://your-clinic-domain.com/?ottoWidgetSelectRequestType=DirectBooking

For a paid Facebook or Instagram ad, add the tags below so those bookings are credited to paid social. Replace your_campaign_name with a short name for the campaign:

https://your-clinic-domain.com/?ottoWidgetSelectRequestType=DirectBooking&utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=paid_social&utm_campaign=your_campaign_name

Use utm_source=instagram for an Instagram ad.

Advanced - Send owners to a dedicated booking page (optional)

Your booking link doesn't have to point at your homepage. You can point it at any page on your site — including a dedicated "Book an Appointment" page that has the booking widget embedded right in it. When an owner lands on that page, the widget opens automatically to Direct Booking, so they can start booking without hunting for a button.

To do this, just swap your homepage address for the page you want, and keep the rest of the link exactly the same. For example:

https://your-clinic-domain.com/book/?ottoWidgetSelectRequestType=DirectBooking

A couple of things to know:

  • The page needs to fully load for the widget to open, so the link should point to a real page on your site.
  • Some website builders (like Wix) need a small extra setup step for this to work. If you're on Wix, or the widget isn't opening, reach out to your Otto team — we'll walk your web person through it.

What pet owners will see

Clicking the link opens your Direct Booking widget right on your website. Owners pick a visit type and a time, and the request flows into your normal Otto scheduling — exactly like any other Direct Booking request.

A few tips

  • Use the link that matches each place. Google and paid ads use a tagged link, your website and social profiles use the plain one. That's what keeps your booking reports accurate.
  • Don't shorten or edit the links yourself. If you need a tidier link for print or signage, ask your Otto contact and we'll help.
  • Test each one after you add it: click your own button and make sure the widget opens.
