The Service Reminder Email Editor lets you customize the Service Reminder emails sent to pet parents based on upcoming service dates.
Access the editor from Flow's Settings page: Service Reminders Settings > Email Delivery Template.
When you click Edit Email Template, the Template Editor loads. It shows either the latest saved Draft version or the latest Published version, depending on which was saved last. Once a template is Published, all future Service Reminder emails automatically use it.
The template preview is on the left side of the screen; editing tools are on the right.
Editing Tools
Content
Nine pieces of content can be dragged and dropped into the email template. Dropping a tool shows its settings in the Editing Tools panel. Design settings can be set separately for desktop and mobile, and responsive mode can adapt the design to the screen size the email is viewed on.
The nine content types are:
- Columns
- Heading
- Text
- Image
- Button
- Divider
- HTML
- Menu
- Services
Note: When editing Text content, in addition to styling, you can insert Merge Tags that dynamically populate from each pet parent's data — Clinic Hours, Clinic Info, and Pet Owner Info.
Note: The Services tool controls the styling and design of the Service Reminders list shown in pet parents' emails. While editing a template, the services shown are example/dummy data — the actual services for each pet parent are pulled dynamically when the email sends, including reminders for more than one pet in the same period.
Blocks
Save an existing or newly created section of the template using the save button at the bottom right of a selected row. This lets you reuse a section without recreating it if it's removed from a Published or Draft version.
When you save a block, you'll be asked for a Category Name and optional tags, which helps organize and search for blocks later.
By default, every Service Reminders Email Template has three preset blocks: the Header, the Service Reminders "Book Now" button (which triggers the Request Appointment Form for pet parents), and the Footer (with the clinic's address and hours).
Note: When the email template first loads, actual clinic info displays in these blocks (heading, footer). If you drag these blocks into the template after the initial load, only the wildcards/tags (e.g. [[clinic_name]]) display in the editor, not the actual data — emails sent to pet parents will still populate the correct data.
Body
Edit formatting for the complete body of the email without editing each section individually.
Images
Search a library of licensed images ready to drop into the template.
Uploads
Upload new images from your device and drop them into the template.
Managing changes to the email template
- Undo edits one at a time with the Undo arrow at the bottom left of the screen.
- Revert to Publish (top right) undoes unsaved edits back to the last published version; a confirmation modal warns that any draft state will be removed.
- Cancel (bottom right) reverts to the previously saved version, whether Published or Draft.
- Save Draft saves the latest changes without publishing them.
Email previews
Click the eye icon at the bottom left of the screen to preview the email in mobile, tablet, and desktop views, or choose an exact screen width.
Editing states
While an email template is being edited, a Draft state shows at the top of the screen. This changes once you click Publish in the top left corner.
Email requirements
- The footer section, including the Unsubscribe link, can't be removed — it's required for CAN-SPAM Act compliance.
- A template can't be published without the Service Reminders list block; attempting to do so shows an alert.
